Mick Warner says penalty handed down to GWS is ‘lenient’
Mick Warner believes there is cause for cynicism in light of GWS’ punishment over the Whitfield affair.
The Herald Sun and 3AW Football journalist told Sports Today the club is still officially a part of the AFL itself, so while it’s a fair outcome on the surface, there’s still cause to raise an eyebrow.
GWS was hit with a $100,000 fine and docked 1,000 draft points on Thursday.
‘Given that the club is still fully-funded by the AFL, and they’ve got draft picks like confetti, you would be fair in saying it’s a lenient sentence,’ Mick said.
‘I think some people would be right about being a bit cynical.’
