Midsumma Festival CEO Karen Bryant says she’s disappointed police have opted out of the event’s pride march following clashes with protestors last year.

The festival moved to ban police from marching in uniform, leading to the decision which was made public on Tuesday.

“We’ve been in extensive conversation with Victoria Police in the last 12 months,” Ms Bryant said on 3AW Drive.

“We are disappointed police have decided not to march but we respect the rights of any group to make their own decision.”
