Mike Hussey urges selectors to stick by Nic Maddinson
Mike Hussey has thrown his support behind Nic Maddinson despite a poor start to his Test career.
Maddinson scored a duck in his first Test innings against South Africa, and followed it up with a very streaky 1 in the First Test against Pakistan.
With Shaun Marsh ready to return from injury, Maddinson could find his place in the team in jeopardy.
‘It’s something the selectors will definitely discuss,’ Hussey told Sports Today.
But the legendary batsman said Maddinson shouldn’t be judged after just two innings.
‘They’ve identified him as a player for the future. Give him a chance,’ he said.
‘He’s got the talent. If the selectors show enough faith in him, he will definitely show them how good he can be.’
Hussey, a new member of the Macquarie Summer of Cricket team, said the second innings of this Test will be important for Maddinson.
