Million dollar reward on offer to help catch Dandenong Ranges fire bug

Arson and Explosives Squad detectives hope a million dollar reward will bring them closer to catching those responsible for five bushfires that killed three people in the Dandenong Ranges.

42 homes were destroyed in the blaze on January 21, 1997.

The Ferny Creek fires killed husband and wife, Graeme Jennifer Lindroth and their 50-year-old neighbour Genevieve Erin.

Police have spoken to several people of interest in the past 19 years. No charges had been laid.

Detective Inspector Michael Roberts says it’s hoped the reward will encourage people to come forward.

‘I believe that somebody will know something about this matter, there might be reasons why they haven’t come forward before.’

‘What we’re hoping is that the increase in the reward will be an incentive for that person or those people to speak with us.’ Roberts tells 3AW News.
