Minister all but rules out banning live exports, despite disturbing footage
The federal minister for agriculture says he won’t be banning live exports from Australia.
It follows the release of disturbing footage showing thousands of sheep packed into holding pens and dying of heat exhaustion on voyages to the Middle East.
David Littleproud says the Agriculture Department failed to uphold animal welfare standards and has ordered an investigation into his own department.
But he told Tom Elliott he wouldn’t be blocking live exports.
“I don’t intend to, no,” he said.
