Richard Di Natale says the dozens of athletes and officials who went missing before, during and after the Commonwealth Games have every right to seek asylum here, should they fear persecution in their homeland.

However, Tom Elliott has questioned whether that fear stacks up, given they were sent to Australia to represent their country.

The 3AW Drive host and leader of The Greens debated the matter on Tuesday.
