The Mayor of a town in regional Victoria has gone missing in action and moved to Queensland, reportedly without telling anyone.

Mentioned on The Rumour File this morning, Ararat City Councillor Glenda McLean has moved to Mount Isa but remains Ararat’s Mayor, despite being more than 2600 kilometres away.

Paul Burns, a journalist at station 3WM, told Justin and Kate locals should find out the mayor’s fate at a meeting this afternoon.

“It’s been confirmed that she’s moved to Mount Isa and is working at a hospital up there,” Paul said.

“There is a councillor gathering meeting at 5pm today and that’s an hour before the scheduled assembly for the general public so I’m sure we’ll find out more this afternoon.

“We think she might resign but she could stay on.”
