The second NBN rocket has been launched following a 24-hour delay.

Known as the Sky Muster II, the satellite was launched from French Guiana this morning travelling at about 28,000km/hr, after a delay yesterday due to the weather.

Spokesperson for the NBN Co Michael Moore said the satellite would help deliver broadband to 400,000 homes and businesses in rural and remote areas.

‘These are the places which can’t use any of the technology, not even fixed wireless due to their geographic positions which includes places like the Cocos Islands,’ he said.

He said at this stage of the rollout, 640,000 Victorian homes and businesses have access to the NBN.

‘Over the next two years, pretty much all of Victoria will have access or be in construction,’ he said.
