Mitre 10 selling tools with pink handles that specifically target women comes under scrutiny

A leading hardware store that is selling tools with pink handles, that specifically target women has come under scrutiny. 

Mitre 10 in Ocean Grove is advertising a 31-piece tool set labelled, ‘Ladies Tools, Tools for Her’, all with pink handles.

Speaking to 3AW Drive, caller Lisa doesn’t think it’s sending a good message.

‘This is a little bit of a backward step, it’s a little archaic to feel that ladies need tools that are pink’ she said.

‘There was an equivalent box of tools that were just household tools, they are presumably not for ladies’ she told Tom Elliott.

Lisa has written to the store to make her concerns known and is yet to receive a response.
