Moira Deeming referred to anti-corruption watchdog over controversial proposal

Liberal MP Moira Deeming has been referred to Victoria’s anti-corruption watchdog after a controversial proposal regarding former opposition leader John Pesutto’s bankruptcy proceedings.
State political reporter at Nine News, Heidi Murphy, says Deeming feels betrayed by the Liberal Party as they weigh up loaning funds to Pesutto.
“She’s sent this letter saying ‘John, you can just pay what you’ve raised so far, and I’ll give you two years to pay the rest of it, and there are four other stipulations’,” she said.
Press PLAY to hear when IBAC could decide to investigate the matter
“Someone has got in touch with them [IBAC], we understand on Wednesday afternoon … to say ‘this doesn’t look right, this doesn’t smell right, can you have a look at it’,” she added.
