LATEST: Police have released CCTV footage of a hit-run involving a motorbike rider which has left a woman fighting for life.

It’s understood four people on monkey bikes were riding through the car park of the Carrum Downs Regional Shopping Centre when one rider hit a pedestrian shortly after 5pm.

The victim, a 34-year-old Carrum Downs woman, suffered head and chest injuries and was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.

All the riders fled the scene.

Detective Inspector Bernie Rankin from the Major Collision Investigation Unit said the victim, a mother of two, was hit with force.

‘We are very keen for people who suspect or know who is responsible,’ he said.

‘We certainly encourage them to come forward.

‘At this stage we have no firm leads at all, and we are certainly looking for witnesses and for people to come forward who know who is responsible for this.’

It’s believed two people were on the bike that struck the woman.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have spent the night examining the scene.

They’re appealing for witnesses to come forward.

3AW Mornings caller Renee said the teenage boys riding monkey bikes didn’t wear helmets and were often tearing up her street in Carrum Downs.
