More than 100 cars stuck in a St Kilda car park after major maintenance stuff-up
JACQUI FELGATE EXCLUSIVE
More than 100 St Kilda residents have been left unable to use their vehicles after a major maintenance stuff-up.
Contractors conducting routine maintenance at a Fitzroy Street residential building cut through the concrete on the carpark ramp, causing significant damage which may take weeks to repair. In the meantime, no one can get in or out.

The building body corporate has advised residents who are locked out of the carpark they can contact the council to get a temporary street parking permit, but when they’ve contacted the council they’ve been told they’re ineligible for parking permits.
Port Phillip councillor Marcus Pearl told Jacqui Felgate issuing permits for the building — which is a new build and ineligible for permits — is “not something we would normally do”, but the council is looking into the problem.
