Mother at centre of fake firearm attack left ‘shaken’ and ‘defeated’

A mother who was allegedly threatened with a fake gun has opened up on the terror she endured on Thursday morning.

Two teenagers have been charged after allegedly pointing imitation firearms in the direction of shoppers in Somerville.

Rachel (not her real name) said she was shaken by what took place, immediately drawing parallels to last year’s Westfield Bondi Junction shooting in Sydney.

“I didn’t get much sleep last night,” she told 3AW Drive

“I’m feeling a bit defeated and worn out at the moment.”
