A mother has detailed the scary ordeal she encountered outside of Frankston Hospital last Thursday, with a machete-wielding teenager confronting her with her four-month-old son in the back seat of her car.

Jamie told Jacqui Felgate the encounter is “quite traumatic to talk about”, especially after finding out the perpetrator had been granted bail.

“I was extremely traumatised, I was inconsolable, I couldn’t breathe properly,” Jamie said.

Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier then weighed in on the “unacceptable situation”.

“This is a shocking story that you’ve just exposed,” Ms Crozier told the 3AW Drive host.

She also commented on the “dreadful scenario” inside the Alfred and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Police have since released the following statement:

Police arrested a male following an incident in Frankston on 1 August.

It is alleged a male was walking around Hastings Road around 11pm holding a machete. The man was located around 9am on 2 August during police patrols of the area. No one was physically injured during the incidents.

The 15-year-old Frankston male has been charged with threat to inflict serious injury, assault with a weapon, possess controlled weapon. He has been bailed to appear in a children’s court on 10 September.
