Mother starts petition to allow her daughter to wear pants to school

A Grade 1 girl been allowed to wear pants to school after backlash from the community.

Simone Cariss started an online petition after her daughter’s primary school refused her initial request to wear pants instead of a dress.

The school has since allowed the girl to wear pants while it reviews its uniform policy.

Ms Cariss told Ross and John kids should have the choice.

‘My daughter doesn’t enjoy wearing a dress at this point in time,’ Ms Cariss 

‘I believe they’re discriminating based on gender, and I don’t believe schools should be allowed to do that,’ she said.
