A man is in a critical condition after a fiery crash in Melbourne’s north.

3AW Mornings has received a number of calls on and off air about the crash on the corner of Albert and Murray streets in Preston.

A huge plume of smoke can be seen at the scene.

A man has received head injuries and is on the way to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

Caller Travis has told Neil Mitchell the motorbike is in ‘smithereens’.

“It doesn’t look so good, the motorbike has definitely come off second best,” he said.

Murray street is blocked off in both directions and traffic is building city-bound.
