Motorcyclist killed in smash on the Calder Freeway at Taylors Lakes
A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash in the final minutes of the road safety blitz.
The rider became the fourth person killed on the state’s roads across the Labour Day long weekend, smashing into the rear of a vehicle on the Calder Freeway at Taylors Lakes, just before midnight.
The other fatalities during operation Arid happened at Vectis, Wilsons Promontory and Yarraville.
The number of offences detected by police, who saturated the roads across the long weekend as part of the operation, are still being tallied.
They include two motorists clocked at about 200 kilometres an hour on the Eastern Freeway on Monday.
