A diplomatic furore is brewing after a Victorian MP, on a taxpayer funded study tour to the US, was blocked from entering the US.

Upper House MP Khalil Eideh is on his way back to Melbourne, after being stopped in Vancouver.

Another member of the group, Sex Party MP Fiona Patten, has told Neil Mitchell it’s a frustrating situation.

“We had gone through quite a palaver to get official passports with special American Visas about three or four weeks ago. If something changed, you’d think they could have let us know,” MP Patten said.

Mr Eideh says he wasn’t told why he was refused entry. He was not taken into custody.

“He was just asked to wait to the side while he tried to sort this out.”

It is understood the Mr Eideh is quite annoyed by the situation.
