Mum and daughter describe horrifying near miss as out-of-control car ploughs into busy shopping strip

A mother and daughter who narrowly escaped being hit by a car which ploughed through a busy shopping strip in Clayton have described their horror as the car hurtled towards them.

It’s believed an elderly driver lost control of the car at about 12.45pm yesterday near the corner of Centre and Clayton roads.

Astonishing CCTV footage shows the moment the car crashes into the shopping strip.

Jelana Ivanovich pushed her daughter Casey out of the way.

“I’m very distressed and shocked, thankful to be alive,” she told Neil Mitchell.

“(Casey) is also very distressed, shocked, sore, she’s on crutches.

“I’ve looked up pushed her out of the way screamed, shut my eyes, I thought I was being sandwiched between the car and the wall.”
