Tourists arriving by cruise ship are once again struggling to get into the city to spend their tourist dollars.

3AW has been told there were huge lines at local newsagencies near the Port of Melbourne, full of people wanting to purchase a Myki card.

It follows Friday’s drama at the port, with hundreds of passengers were stranded due to a shortage of taxis.

3AW Mornings listener Katherine said it was a bad look for the city and that many punters had given up on waiting for a public transport ticket.

‘They’re walking along the tram tracks to the city,’ she explained.

‘I am absolutely disgusted to think there was nobody down there to help these visitors.

‘They are visitors to our city.’
