Mystery drug on Gold Coast sparks fears ahead of schoolies
A mystery drug on the Gold Coast which has led to 16 hospitalisations has sparked fears ahead of ‘schoolies’ celebrations.
Two people are in an induced coma and 14 others have been taken to hospital on the Gold Coast after taking an illicit drug.
Queensland Police don’t know at this stage exactly what the substance is.
Stephen Burns from the Queensland Ambulance Service says they were aggressive, non-compliant and out of control.
He said the overdoses were a concern, with schoolies celebrations kicking off on the Gold Coast in mid-November.
Hundreds of Victorian school-leavers are expected to attend.
