Nat Fyfe says he’s ‘likely’ to start as midfielder in 2022

Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe says he’s “likely” to be starting in the midfield this year.

The Dockers take on the Crows at Adelaide oval this Sunday, and Fyfe has told Sportsday if all goes to plan he will be lining up in the centre square.

“Where I have struggled in the last couple of years … is I’m sort of playing a split role, and I can’t quite get going in either spot,” he said.

“Now that’s been a tactical move to be able to allow some of our young midfielders like Serong and Brayshaw to really develop and come through.

“We’ve got some fantastic results out of that, as well as structuring up a little bit different, and throwing something different at the opposition.

“But (Justin Longmuir) and I have talked about where I will be best used … and that looks like it will be starting in the midfield.”
