Nathan Buckley admits players get affected by public discussion

Nathan Buckley has admitted players can be affected by public discussion about football.

The Pies had a shaky start to the season, winning just two of their first seven games, so there was no shortage of discussion in the football world about how the Pies were tracking.

And Buckley told 3AW Football it’s impossible to completely block it out.

‘We’re human, it does seep through,’ he said.

‘The focus has to be on what you can control.

‘The important thing is to make the internal conversation and focus so compelling that it cuts through all the bulls–t outside of it.’

Buckley also said Travis Cloke will have to work hard to earn his spot back as the Pies have plenty of depth in attack.
