Nathan Lyon again spins Aussies into commanding position
Nathan Lyon is happy for Australia’s fast bowlers to take all the spotlight and attract the headlines.
The off-spinner is happy to fly under the radar and keep taking wickets and contributing to Test match victories.
At stumps on day three of the second Test against the West Indies, Lyon spoke to Macquarie Radio’s Summer of Cricket commentator Tom Moody after claiming 4-66 as Australia dismissed the Windies for 271, a first innings lead of 280.
Lyon’s haul included another spectacular caught and bowled, dismissing debutante Carlos Braithwaite for 59 just before lunch.
The Aussies have built that advantage to 459 with two days leftin the match, reaching 3-179 in their second innings.
‘I’m happy to play my role for the team and hopefully win series. That’s my goal,’ Lyon said.
Lyon is unsure if captain Steve Smith – who’s unbeaten on 70 – will declare overnight or keep batting into day four and set the West Indies a formidable target to chase.
