NBN model questioned as record numbers of Australians disconnect service

Australians are turning to alternatives to the NBN as cost of living pressures continue to rise.

Almost 30,000 households in 2023 opted to disconnect from the NBN, marking the time they’d be a dip in subscribers to the network.

RMIT School of Engineering Associate Professor Dr Mark Gregory explained why he doesn’t like the way the NBN currently operates.

“I’m not a fan of the management team at NBN,” he told Heidi Murphy on 3AW Drive.

“They are supposed to be providing a low-cost, competitive environment for competition in the broadband space and what we’re seeing instead is an expensive business model.”
