Nearly 10,000 people use Melbourne’s 24-hour Night Network trains, trams
Patronage figures show nearly 10,000 Victorians used the new ‘Night Network’ on its first weekend of operation.
The figures from Public Transport Victoria reveal 9862 people touched on their Myki in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning.
The government is trialling 24-hour public transport on the weekend for the next 12 months to see if it should become a permanent feature.
Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan has declared the first weekend a success.
She says the actual number of people who used the network will be higher because the figures don’t include the free tram zone.
Ms Allan says the first weekend after New Year’s Eve was always going to be quieter than normal and she expects the number of ppl using the Night Network will grow.
