Neil Mitchell has accused the Premier of “lacking decency” with a column he wrote for The Age ahead of the same-sex marriage postal survey results being announced.

Daniel Andrews called on supporters of same-sex marriage to “get mad and get even” regardless of the result.

“This is wrong,” Neil Mitchell said.

“This is a crucial social issue that is so important and so emotional to so many people.

“Whatever happens, it’s going to be difficult for some people. It is a sensitive time.

“Daniel Andrews is already turning it into a bitter and vindictive political fight.

“This is a time we should come together.”
