Neil Mitchell blasts ‘nonsense’ Maribyrnong flood inquiry
Neil Mitchell says Melbourne Water’s “nonsense” inquiry into the Maribyrnong floods is “insulting to the people” whose homes were inundated last October.
The inquiry will deliberately exclude examination of policy responses, the building of future flood walls or dams, emergency responses (including evacuation procedures and warnings), flood recovery and planning matters.
“Can you believe this?,” the 3AW Mornings host said. “This is like studying road deaths and not looking at the crashes or investigating an armed robbery without talking to the victims.”

Maribyrnong resident Antoinette Bufalino says residents aren’t surprised by the limited scope of the inquiry.
“The last three community council meetings have been exactly that. They will not allow us to speak, they do not want to know what we have to say,” she told Neil Mitchell.
“We’re not going to let this go.”
