Neil Mitchell clashes with caller who defends Catholic Church over sex abuse

Neil Mitchell has had a fiery clash with a 3AW caller about sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.

Phil rang in to tell Neil Mitchell the issue had ‘nothing to do’ with the religion and accused him of targeting it unfairly.

‘You have a bee in your bonnet about the Catholic Church,’ he said.

It’s fair to say that didn’t go down well with the 3AW Mornings host.

‘No, I have a bee in my bonnet about kids (being abused)’ Neil Mitchell responded.

‘You are proof of how this problem developed because all you are talking about is protecting the Catholic Church, when we should be talking about protecting children.

‘The children are what matters here, not the bloody church.’
