Neil Mitchell defends Daniel Andrews over statue pressure
Neil Mitchell has gone into bat for Daniel Andrews, with the Premier facing pressure to knock back a statue of himself outside state parliament when he hits the 3000-day milestone as Victorian Premier.
It’s claimed if Mr Andrews was “truly committed to diversity” he would platform a woman instead.
“His base is going after him a bit on this,” Neil Mitchell said on Wednesday.

Bella d’Abrera is a program director at the Institute of Public Affairs, which is a right-leaning think-tank, and said the statue should be of a woman, such as Joan Kirner.
“I think it’s a reasonable request,” she said.
