Neil Mitchell dubious of figures released by UFC declaring $102 million boost to Victorian economy

Neil Mitchell doesn’t believe figures released by the UFC which declared last November’s blockbuster fight event at Etihad Stadium a raging success.
The report said the event, headlined by Ronda Rousey’s shock loss to Holly Holm, injected more than $100 million into the Victorian economy and created 900 jobs.
But the 3AW Mornings host said it appeared to be little more than unverified propaganda from an unnamed American research firm.
‘They didn’t even hand out the report,’ Neil Mitchell said on 3AW.
‘The claims are pretty big.’
He said Sports Minister John Eren was foolish to support the claims.
‘For how long were the jobs, minister?’ Neil Mitchell questioned.
‘Where did the $102 million come from?
‘John Eren shouldn’t be putting his name to what seems to be basically unsourced PR from the UFC lot, just to promote himself.’
