Neil Mitchell explains why he doesn’t want footy on Good Friday
Neil Mitchell is opposed to Good Friday footy and says he can’t be convinced otherwise.
He fears it would undermine the Good Friday Appeal.
It’s looking increasingly likely the AFL will bow to public pressure and play a match on the Friday before Easter next season.
But it’s not just the religious significance that has the 3AW Mornings host offside.
‘I get a sense, in this state, on Good Friday the whole state unites and remembers and works for kids,’ Neil Mitchell said of the Good Friday Appeal.
‘Sick kids, yeah. But you remember all kids.
‘While you’re raising money and concern for sick children, you also look at your own kids and say ‘gee how lucky am I?’
‘Anybody that’s ever been anywhere near the children’s hospital ? it’s a very special place.
‘I don’t want to undermine it and its appeal in any way.’
