The Opposition Leader has been accused of dishonesty when it comes to weekend penalty rates.

Labor is promising in its election advertising that it will keep weekend penalty rates, despite Bill Shorten telling Neil Mitchell last month he would accept a decision by the Fair Work Commission, which could call for them to be dumped.

But Brendan O’Connor, shadow minister for employment and workplace relations, told Neil Mitchell that’s not the case.

‘We’ve made it clear, if elected, a Shorten Labor government would intervene,’ he said.

But Neil Mitchell isn’t convinced, given the ambiguity of some of Mr O’Connor’s answers.

‘Do we look that stupid?’ he said.
