Neil Mitchell says Scott Morrison needs to “ditch the politics and spin” if he wants to retain his job as Prime Minister.

The PM is undoubtedly under siege in the lead-up to this year’s federal election, and Neil Mitchell says he is “awkward” and “not handling people well” at present, often putting “politics” ahead of empathy for others.

The 3AW Mornings host said Mr Morrison should “throw the rule book out” and be himself.

“It could cost him the election, but he’s probably losing it anyway,” he said.

Neil Mitchell also addressed speculation about a possible leadership challenge in the Liberal party.

“I’m not saying there will be a challenge, they would be mad to do that, but madness has prevailed before,” he said.
