Neil Mitchell hits out at ‘painful’ Billy Brownless interview on The Footy Show
Neil Mitchell has labelled the tell-all with Billy Brownless on The Footy Show last night ‘painful’ to watch.
He said the interview shouldn’t have happened and wasn’t the public’s business.
‘I couldn’t watch it,’ the 3AW Mornings host said.
‘It’s car-crash television.
‘They shouldn’t have done it.
‘It’s a sad story, a tacky story and there are no winners.
‘But The Footy Show wallowed in it last night and the only reason can be ratings.
‘It was ugly stuff.
‘It was unfair.
‘It was painful to see Billy Brownless, such a decent man, sitting there hurting so much.
‘God only knows what it would do to Garry Lyon, if he is still mentally fragile.’

But Dwayne Russell, who is friends with Brownless, said it was the best way for him to handle it.
‘Billy doesn’t avoid issues, he doesn’t dance around them,’ the Sports Today host said on 3AW Mornings.
‘He wanted to address the rumour about his daughter especially. He was horrified by that.’
Dwayne said even though it was a private issue, it was in the public interest to give people details.
