Neil Mitchell makes a few points about the ‘bullying’ claims surrounding Daniel Andrews

Neil Mitchell says he has no doubt Daniel Andrews is a political bully.

It comes after Labor MP Kaushaliya Vaghela said she had been subjected to intimidation aimed at damaging her “mentally, physically and psychologically” after switching factions.

But the Premier said Ms Vaghela’s claim he turned a blind eye to bullying accusations was “fantasy without foundation.”

Neil Mitchell said Ms Vaghela was not the first female Labor MP to have issues with the Premier.

“Daniel Andrews claims to be progressive and supportive of women in politics,” he said.

“Ask Jane Garrett, who was bullied out of cabinet.

“Ask Jenny Mikakos, who had to quit after getting thrown under the bus.

“Remember when he demanded the phones of every member of cabinet to look at who leaked something to me … that’s a form of bullying.”

Neil Mitchell said the Premier calling Ms Vaghela “that person” while speaking publicly about the situation was insulting and offensive.

“Deliberately so,” he said.

Neil Mitchell also expressed disappointment with Tim Pallas, who appeared to question the mental state of Ms Vaghela on Saturday.

“Talk about victim-blaming,” he said.

The 3AW Mornings host asked how the same situation would be viewed if it was Scott Morrison, not the Victorian Premier.

“There would be media fury,” he said.

“But when it’s Daniel Andrews, much of the media buries it and ignores it.

“They’re either intimidated, or in love with him.

“Neither is healthy for accountability, neither is healthy for democracy.”
