Neil Mitchell says he’d be surprised if Josh Frydenberg’s political career is finished.

It comes after he was booted out of parliament in the federal election, losing the seat of Kooyong to Monique Ryan.

Neil Mitchell maintains Mr Frydenberg, the former federal treasurer, has the potential to lead the Liberal Party in future.

“Josh Frydenberg is liked on both sides,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“I imagine many Labor people would have been ringing him to commiserate, that’s what they usually do, but he crosses party lines.

“He is decent, competent and capable – we need him in parliament.

“There are many there who have a fraction of his ability.

“He must come back and I think he probably will come back, unless he finds life too attractive on the outside, which it probably is.”
