NEIL MITCHELL: MICA change being considered as areas regularly left ‘without any coverage whatsoever’
Victoria’s elite Mobile Intensive Care Ambulances (MICA) ambulance service is under review, with reports single responder units could be removed from some regional areas.
Neil Mitchell broke the story, with Ambulance Victoria confirming a new operating model for MICA is being considered.
“What they’re looking at is a change … which take the single responder MICA out of large sections of Victoria — right from Warrnambool, Wodonga, across to Wonthaggi,” Mitchell told 3AW’s Jacqui Felgate.

Neil Mitchell says he’s been told by multiple paramedics that parts of the state are often left “without any MICA coverage whatsoever”.
Speaking today, Premier Jacinta Allan said “there has been absolutely no cut to ambulance funding across the state”.
