Neil Mitchell on ‘co-payment by stealth’
Neil Mitchell has been waiting for a ‘real’ election issue that touches you.
And he’s found one.
Dubbed ‘co-payment by stealth’, the Coalition will freeze the Medicare rebate if it wins the federal election.
Labor says it will the freeze, claiming it will reduce the cost of visiting the doctor by around $20.
The 3AW Mornings host said doctors were being asked to bear the load by the Turnbull government.
‘It’s a co-payment by stealth,’ he said on 3AW Mornings.
‘The doctors are asked to carry the cut, really, and many of them aren’t able to.’
Neil Mitchell spoke with shadow health minister Catherine King about the issue.
