Neil Mitchell has weighed on the raids by the federal police overnight.

The 3AW Mornings host said it ‘wasn’t about’ the National Broadband Network.

He said there were three allegations underlying the issue.

  • Bill Shorten and his ‘Labor mates’ are accusing the AFP of being ‘crooks’
  • The police are investigating whether Labor broke the law to promote ‘political leaks’
  • Malcolm Turnbull has done a ‘massively improper deal’ and asked the AFP to ‘play politics’ during an election campaign.

‘They’re pretty grubby options, all of them,’ Neil Mitchell said on 3AW Mornings.

‘None of them may be right, of course, but those are the allegations.

‘That’s what underlying the whole issue.

‘And that’s going to make the election about trust.’
