Five suspected would-be jihadis remain in custody in Cairns.
But… time could be running out to charge them over an alleged attempt to use a fishing boat to join ISIL.
Among the detainees – is believed to be well-known Islamist preacher Musa Cerantonio and Kadir Kaya.
Kadir Kaya hates Australia.
He recently told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell he doesn’t respect Australian values.
‘I’ve been trying tell them ‘Let me out’, and they’re basically keeping me here in prison,’.
Neil Mitchell: You’re not in jail though, you’re out in the community.
Kadir Kaya: Yeah it’s an open-air prison.
All five Victorian men have previously had their passports cancelled.
AFP Acting Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan says they may not be able to apply for preventative detention orders to keep the men in custody without charge because there’s no evidence of a planned terrorist attack.
