Neil Mitchell reacts to latest ‘levy’ proposal from Andrews Government
Neil Mitchell says the Andrews Government continues to “mismanage” Victorian taxpayer funds.
He said the proposed new levy – “don’t call it a tax” – business will pay to cover sick leave entitlements for casual staff was misjudged.
Neil Mitchell said a common theme was emerging whenever Daniel Andrews made an announcement.
“Every time there is a new policy, there is a new levy,” he said on Tuesday.
“Here’s a thought for the Premier… why not balance the books?
“Don’t just hit us with a new tax every five minutes.
“Mr Andrews has surrounded himself with armies of very high-level public servants, paid an arm and a leg.
“We have grown at the top and bottom far outside any other state.
“The public service has exploded.
“Meanwhile, we have sweetheart deals with firefighters and teachers and anybody who might be handy in an election campaign.
“This is a massive mismanagement of our money.
“And whenever he needs more, he bungs on a new tax.
“You can’t have double-dipping and if they (casuals) keep their loading and get sick pay, it is double-dipping.
“It is massively irresponsible and simplistic.
“It is the classic style of this government.”
