Australia better get used to Pauline Hanson and find a better approach to dealing with her controversial policies, says Neil Mitchell.

It follows protests and fierce criticism after the senator appeared on Q&A on Monday night.

Neil Mitchell said it was ‘wrong and dangerous’ for the likes of Ms Hanson and TV presenter Sonia Kruger to suggest a complete ban on Muslim migration.

But the 3AW Mornings host said Australians needed to learn how to handle the issue better.

‘I think they are wrong, but let’s deal with that fear and the issue,’ Neil said.

‘You don’t just call people racists and mock them.’

NSW Senator Sam Dastyari clashed with Ms Hanson during Monday night’s program.

He agreed the debate needed to handled better, but most angst came from frustration.

‘People are entitled to their own opinions – they aren’t entitled to their own facts,’ he said on 3AW.
