Neil Mitchell says Serbian President ‘needs to be put in his place’ for Djokovic ‘garbage’
Neil Mitchell says comments from the Serbian President in the wake of Novak Djokovic’s deportation from Australia are “absolute garbage” and he should be “put in his place a little bit”.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Australia “tortured and tormented” the world number one tennis player, and treated him “like a mass murderer”.
Speaking on the BBC, Mr Vucic said Djokovic endured “not only intellectual but physical torture”.
Neil Mitchell says the Serbian President’s comments are “absolute garbage”.
“I think we deserve something of an apology,” the 3AW Mornings host said.
“He says he has been physically tortured … we don’t do that in Australia!
“I think the Serbian President needs to be put in his place a little bit, you don’t get away with saying Australia has officially tortured somebody.
“Australia has got to stand up for itself here.”
