Neil Mitchell says the AFL must investigate Mick Gatto’s apparent link to Essendon

Neil Mitchell has called on the AFL to investigate Essendon’s links with Mick Gatto.

The underworld figure claims he met with a club official, who asked for help during the supplements scandal.

But the Bombers say they were approached by Mr Gatto, an approach they rebuffed.

Neil Mitchell said regardless of what happened, it warranted an official review.

‘If the AFL is fair dinkum, it will investigate Mick Gatto’s involvement with Essendon ? if there is one ? because there’s a rule against bringing the game into disrepute,’ the 3AW Mornings host said.

‘Remember when they got grumpy because Toby Mitchell was in the Richmond rooms? Same point.

‘If Essendon had any serious dealing with Mick Gatto, they shouldn’t have.

‘Now, I’m not convinced they did and if they did, it didn’t go anywhere.

‘But the AFL needs to investigate, regardless.’
