Neil Mitchell: Turnbull’s serial liar sledge has ‘all but guaranteed’ Albanese as next PM

Malcolm Turnbull’s savage comments about Prime Minister Scott Morrison have “all but guaranteed Anthony Albanese as the next Prime Minister”, Neil Mitchell says.

In the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron labelling Scott Morrison a liar, Mr Turnbull has also called Mr Morrison’s honesty into question.

“He’s lied to me on many occasions. Scott has always had a reputation for telling lies,” Mr Turnbull said.

Neil Mitchell says Mr Turnbull’s harsh comments “could destroy the party he led and cost them the election”.

“Malcolm Turnbull has put it into another area saying Scott Morrison is a serial liar, which means lying to you. You can judge that yourself but judge it against the background of the arrogance, the self entitlement of Malcolm Turnbull,” he said.

The 3AW Mornings host says Mr Turnbull should resign from the Liberal Party, and if he doesn’t, it’s likely he’ll be thrown out.

“I would be very surprised if he isn’t thrown out of the Liberal Party for this. it was personal politics, grubby personal politics, from a bloke supposed to be a mate,” he said.

“Morrison is going to have to rise above this. One destructive, carefully crafted line to put Turnbull in his place, that’s what he should do, and then move on and let the party deal with it.”
