Neil Mitchell has shared his thoughts on the situation surrounding TV host Lisa Wilkinson and the delay of the trial of the man accused of raping former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins at Parliament House.

ACT Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucy McCallum has agreed to delay the trial after it was successfully argued a speech by journalist Lisa Wilkinson at the Logies about her interview with Ms Higgins had removed the distinction between an allegation and a finding of guilt.

It’s since emerged Wilkinson had been warned about making comment about the situation in the days before the event.

“We all make mistakes, I accept that, but this is a bad one,” Neil Mitchell said.
