The Corrections Commissioner has confirmed the state’s worst sex ?offenders are being held at the so-called ‘village of the damned’ and using taxpayer money to buy everything from video games to food.

In some cases they’re pocketing up to $400 a week.

Corella Place, near Ararat, houses sex offenders who are deemed too high-a-risk to be ?released into the community after serving time in jail.

Jan Shuard told Neil Mitchell the offenders don’t pay rent, but use the money to buy food and personal items.

‘They’re not tenants – they’re ordered to live there,’ she explained.
