Neil Mitchell speaks with mother of alleged rape victim, she wants the system changed
The mother of a teenage girl who was allegedly raped has told Neil Mitchell she’ll only recommence the case against her alleged attackers if changes are made to the legal system.
She says her daughter, 14 at the time of the alleged attack, was too traumatised by the thought of cross examination.
The case against the two brothers and cousin charged over the November 2015 attack at St Albans Park was discontinued last month.
The family of the victim will meet with the Attorney General to discuss their concerns.
Her mother told Neil Mitchell greater protection for victims was needed.
‘She just felt it was too much (to be in court),’ she said on 3AW.
‘It’s just so damaging.
‘There must be a better way, there must be.’
