One of the motorcyclists involved in the dramatic Maribyrnong smash caught on dash-cam has backed suggestions to use the footage for a safety campaign.

Steve Caruana was one of the two riders sent spiralling into to the air when he collided with a car.

Amazingly, both riders escaped critical injury.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Mr Caruana told Neil Mitchell he’d be in favour of using the footage for a road safety campaign.

‘Me and Mark are very lucky to be alive,’ he said on 3AW.

‘Very, very lucky.’
